Skygrove is a competition entry for a skyscraper designed for a wetter world. Its aim is to ësafeguard from climate changeí in creating a new kind of hybrid high-rise. Part environmental infrastructure and part vertical office park, Skygrove makes life in Lower Manhattan possible when the future environment is predictably unpredictable. Todayís binary relationship of dry land opposing the sea will soon be blurred by rising sea levels, persistent coastal flooding, storm surges and tsunamis. Skygrove is calibrated to occupy this newly nebulous coastal zone, protect against its dangers, and capitalize on its potential.
