I was interested in making an image with a bold colour. I was searching around for inspiration and came across a video of a Japanese studio using Indigo dye in the traditional method used to dye samurai's clothing.

I then did some research into traditional Japanese interiors and sketched out a few quick compositions before comiting to this one. I wanted to be in one space but have views out to other areas on all sides.

For the materials I used traditional timbers and fabrics that led to a natural/beige/muted palette that I could then contrast with the powerful blue.
